Polyatomic molecules for quantum science and fundamental physics
Abstract: Molecules have unique advantages for quantum sensing, chemistry, many-body physics, and fundamental science. Polyatomic molecules offer further advantages via inclusion of varied ligands and reduction of molecular symmetries, both of which offer specific advantages in many areas, but especially in precision measurement searches for fundamental symmetry violation. I will discuss an overview of our experimental and theoretical work with laser-coolable polyatomic molecules, including some recent developments and an update about what we are currently working on, including molecular spectroscopy to study new molecules for symmetry violation searches, theoretical calculations of molecular ions containing unstable nuclei, and new approaches to designing laser-coolable molecules.
