Non-Abelian phases in Fractional Quantum Hall states
Abstract: Fractional quantum Hall systems are archetypes for topological order--systems which exhibit fractionalization and support anyonic statistics. In particular, some of these quantum Hall states are conjectured to possess non-Abelian anyons; emergent particles whose braiding can be used to perform quantum computations. In this talk, I will give an overview of non-Abelian topological order and their status pertaining to quantum Hall systems.
This talk will follow the new IQIM Seminar structure - a broad overview of a topic will be presented in Part 1, then there will be a short break for refreshments. Part 2 of the talk will provide a more in-depth discussion of current research and potential challenges.
